"Panzerschiffe" Deutschland

A purpose build raider and the lead ship of her class, Deutschland was armed with 11 inch guns but clad in just 3 inchs of armour. Unlike her sisters Admiral Graf Spee and Admiral Scheer, Deutschland had a fairly uneventful life before being crippled by British Lancaster bombers in 1945 and subsequently scuttled.

Our Deutschland was the very first armed vessel in the Australian Battle Group and was constructed by Bill Kirwan using a Swampworks hull. Bill then sold her to Steve Burden who rebuilt her, changing her X turret from rotating to fixed and greatly improved her stability. Steve eventually sold her on to Scott Darcey of the Newcastle Battle Squadron who refitted her once again and sails her today.
